We set our ‘Go date’ for Monday, September 9. We got Atreyu back from the Ford dealer last Wednesday. Amazingly, they repaired the truck’s AC in 24 hours! Whew, luck is on our side. So we finished all the last minute packing (and eating at our favorite places). It is hard work moving your life into 300 square feet! My knees and back are feeling those 3 RV steps. So come Monday the house was packed and cleaned and the RV loaded, but not completely organized. In order to make our deadline I sacrificed organization. I’ll have plenty of time for that on the road. So slightly delayed, again it was hard work, we left our home on the ground to our home on wheels. Our first stop was Lake Hartwell, SC. We chose a close campground to work out all the bugs before we get too far away from our RV resources. Smart decision! We arrived at our destination 30 minutes before the office closed. We are not ready to boondock yet. Set up was successful except that the AC in the rig was not blowing cool air. This time it is the house AC, not the truck motor. In fact the zone 2 unit was not working at all. I think we are not meant to use air conditioning. But Wade melts! Literally for those who remember our sweat-a-thon days. Well it looked like a repeat sweat-a-thon was brewing. None of Wade’s thermostat fidgeting helped. However about an hour later the unit decided to turn on! Yeah, we can sleep in comfort. Well, that is if you can sleep through Raja’s constant meowing. Raja and Wizard actually travelled like champs. Anyone who knows Raja knows she is a vocal cat; now multiply that by a factor of 10 in a tin box. Fun times, but hey it was cool. As we laid in bed we were so excited that we actually did it. We are mobile! So come Tuesday morning AC Unit 1 seemed to be blowing warm air, but AC unit 2 was working great. No worries, lets close some window shades, cook some breakfast, and set up Wade’s office. Then by about 10:30 AM we realized it was cooler outside than in the front half of Atreyu. Oh no! A call to RV World lands Wade on the roof scratching his head. No quick fix, bummer. Atreyu has to go back into the shop. Decisions. We decided to take him back to his origins (RV World) and stay in our non-mobile house instead of a hotel. Therefore we loaded everything and everyone back up and hit the road. Back to Georgia we travelled. We are now home, except we are actually homeless because all our stuff is still in Atreyu (except essentials). Weird. So to conclude we were full-time RVers for 24 hours. Now we wait.
